Japan Attractions

Tokyo, the capital of Japan is the most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is one the 47 prefectures of Japan, and consists of 23 central city wards and multiple cities, towns and villages west of the city center. It is the seat of the Emperor of Japan and the Japanese government. Tokyo is ranked third in the Global Economic Power Index.

Tokyo has the Japan’s largest museum; Tokyo National Museum specializing in traditional Japanese art. Tokyo has an unlimited choice for entertainment, shopping, culture and dining to the visitors. The history can be appreciated in districts such as Asakusa, and in many excellent museums, historic temples and gardens. Tokyo also has a number of attractive green spaces in the city and within relatively short train rides at its outskirts. The Izu and Ogasawara Islands are also part of Tokyo. It has neon, skyscrapers, salaryman crowds, packed trains, cutting-edge architecture and futuristic technology. But it also has ancient shrines, plant-covered wooden houses, cycling grannies, old-school sweet shops and village-like lanes. With more than 12.5 million residents to entertain, Tokyo has a lot going on. Boasting the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Nature and Science, the Ueno Zoo, and the sprawling green space, Ueno Park are the special places to visit in Tokyo. Edo-Tokyo Museum and the Imperial Palace resemble the history of Tokyo. And no trip here would be complete without visiting some of Tokyo's Buddhist and Shinto sites like the Sensoji Temple and the Meiji Shrine.

The majority of Tokyo lies in the humid subtropical climate zone, with warm humid summers and generally cool winters with cold spells. The region, like much of Japan, experiences a one-month seasonal lag, with the warmest month being August, which averages 26.4 °C (79.5 °F), and the coolest month being January, averaging 5.2 °C (41.4 °F).
